Beyond Working Hours..

Few days ago, I was speaking to a good friend about random things while I was reminded about my blog. It was pretty much like my diet plan; existent but ignored. Starting to think about it, I realized that I had no motivation to look for any kind of topic to write. I also realized that I finished college more than a year ago. *Sigh* When that you’re-getting-old feeling kicks in, you go ‘Aaaaarghhh’..

When I finished writing my last exam paper, I had absolutely no feeling about leaving college because maybe I had prepared myself for it. I was not too scared about stepping into a new world either. I felt nothing in particular. Yeah, maybe I could be famous as Lady Stoneheart now :P Anyways, as the day to join work neared, I got busy with getting stuff done, like getting the documents in place and the like and the week got over in a jiffy.

On the first day at office, things went pretty neatly. My friend from the same college and I sat quietly like first grade kids attending school to learn something beyond ABCD, paying attention to each and everything that people had to say.

That day, I decided that I was meant to tread a path different from the normal. A path, with a long way to go. Yes, of course I am talking about the path from Bangalore South to Whitefield. I prayed to God every day and told Him, “Please make me strong enough to help me cross all hurdles in life”. God, He understood this wrongly and made me wait at Marathahalli Bridge and Silk Board jams until I stopped complaining about it. This is exactly why people tell you to be very clear in what you ask for. For some time, “Too much traffic” had been my answer to everything. Literally everything.

ABC: “Hey, how’s work?”
Me: “Awesome. But, too much traffic.”

DEF: “Hey, wazzzaaaaaa?”
Me: “Too much traffic.”

XYZ: “What does 2+2 equal to?”
Me: “Too much traffic.”

It took some time until I got used to things. For instance, getting up early- I had to pray to all the holy sources on this planet to get me used to hearing of the alarm and hope that I have heard it on time. Next, to gain athletic abilities to sprint to the bus stop and hope that I haven’t missed the shuttle because if I did, I’d reach ages later with all the traffic and million stops. I must say I am an optimized person now because I finish all my stuff in half an hour to 45 mins and still manage to reach the bus stop on time. I haven’t missed the shuttle even once till date. Yaay, Score me!!

I mastered an art. To sleep as soon as you get in touch with the fabric of your seat. There are times when I have slept even before the shuttle left the office premises. They say books put you to sleep. Whoever has said that is oblivious to the fact that travelling for 24-25 kms per day (one way) can put you to sleep without having to go through that everyday pre-sleep life-thought-processing window.

Having said all of this, I absolutely love being a person from the working class. I love my company; I have met some really amazing people, traveled to some really good places, learnt to utilize weekends to do what I love, haven’t got the Monday morning blues yet (Touchwood :P) and above all, learnt so much (with respect to work and otherwise). It has taken some getting used to, but I am optimized for the better.
I gotta go now. There’s a Jigglypuff on my couch and I gotta catch em’ all XD :D

The Ant Story

On a fine Sunday morning, the curtains of my window opened and the beautiful rays of the sun entered my room to wake me up to a beautiful day.. The feeling of.. Duh, N.O.. Who am I kidding? I woke up in the afternoon with my eyes swollen, looking like a soaked Soya chunk. Besides, the tension that I had to start a whole new subject for the exam that I had on the next day had started to take over me. An ant had bitten me in my eye and I woke up to the pain of it. I told a friend about this in the evening and he told, “Imagine what the ant would have thought when it bit you...” (Not his exact words but something like this) He actually got me thinking about what the ant must have thought before it bit me.

Ants have always been curious creatures to me. When I was a kid, I heard words like “Learn from the ants.. They maintain a better queue than you do...” And, I have always wondered if they tried to impress their P.T teacher by doing so. An ant, as we all know, collects food much in advance, which is why we find them lurking in all the kitchens of the world. They apparently have a queen ant, which is The Boss and is probably responsible for assigning various houses to the ants to raid for food.

I did find some ants in my kitchen, which were diligently collecting food because hey, the winter is coming. (:P) But, some of the ants probably thought, “Dude, I have collected enough food for the day.. Let me go bite some eyes and make the person look like a douche bag.” I had to apply oil, and what not to reduce the swelling and make me look less of a douche.

I frankly have no idea what ants think when they do what they do. You may call it their defense but I was sleeping and not fighting a war with the ants. This, nevertheless, does not make ants less interesting creatures for me. There are still millions of facts about ants that make me want to put my hands into my mouth and go "Hawww.." I would have written more but, I find something ticklish in my ear.. Must be an ant.
